Hi! I’m Gray!
I’m a licensed mental health counselor specializing in treating eating disorders, trauma, and identity issues, particularly within the queer and trans community.
I work from a non-judgmental, empathetic, and attuned place to help you feel supported throughout your process. I believe therapy should be collaborative, and while not always comfortable, you will always feel safe and heard. We may laugh, you may cry, and we may laugh while you cry. Wherever you’d like to go, I’d like to go there with you.
How I work
I hold a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University and my undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee. I completed my clinical internship at the Renfrew Center of New York and previously worked as a Primary Therapist at Monte Nido & Affiliates.
I’ve trained with Cognitive Processing Theory (CPT), Emotionally Focused Family therapy (EFFT), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a few other acronyms. My practice is eclectic, and I like to use different skills and techniques from various therapy styles. I believe that our past impacts our present and future, and that there are various ways to heal and move forward. We’ll find the path that feels best to you.
I follow a Health At Every Size (HAES), anti-diet, and anti-oppression approach and I welcome clients of all backgrounds. I take great care in recognizing my own privilege in the therapeutic relationship, as well as in the world.
A bit more about me!
I identify as queer and nonbinary and prefer they/them pronouns. I love being a therapist and I find it to be a great privilege to walk alongside people as they heal and change. When not working, you can often find me birding in parks and cemeteries around Brooklyn, reading fantasy novels, and asking people if I can pet their dogs.
